Locappy Review Are you lacking a garden to prepare a delicious barbecue and have a blast with your friends? Not a problem. If in Angel, stop by at Smokehouse, have a seat in either the relaxing outside-sitting area or the rustic dinning room, order a lovely pint of beer and let the magic happen. Smokehouse is an amazing gastro-pub that will take care of your meat-cravings and will satisfy your longing for a getaway-from-urban-life. The restaurant takes pride in its quality ingredients that often come from small and local family-owned companies and the delicious craft beer they offer will truly complete the homely experience. Finally the friendly and enthusiastic staff is there to help you with your picks so essentially, all you have to worry about is making it though the meal without unbuttoning your pants.
Google The pub itself was nice. Great ambience and beer selection. Unfortunately my meal was maybe the worst I've experienced in London, which says a lot. I had high expectations when I heard it was the same company as Pig & the Butcher. I ordered the Aubergine, which sounded amazing in its description but ended up being a pile of mashed potatoes, stacked with curry and then stacked with a huge tempura onion. A comfort staple meets Indian meets Asian. It was just weird and the flavours and textures clashed. On top of that I found it to be overpriced and service was horrible. The staff acted like they were at a party and I was interrupting them to order or ask for anything. Will never go back.
Google Quite pricey for food but a lovely pub with friendly staff and a good atmosphere! They have a good variety of cuisine. The smoked pulled pork is worth a trip!
Google Feels like a pub but eats like Hawksmoor's little brother. Fantastic beer selection, wonderful grilled meats, smoked salads and cozy atmosphere. Some of the best casual eating in Islington.
Google Smokehouse is Neil Rankin's newest venture and as the name may suggest, it's all about the smoke. Most of the dishes are inspired by bbq from the smoked ox cheek to the short rib bourguinon and in general are roasted or grilled with a meat heavy focus. There is one fish and one veggie dish too if you aren't feeling the meat! Bookings are only taken for the restaurant with the pub and garden (for the warmer months) first come first serve. The food is pretty damn tasty with the short rib bourguinon being tender and flaky with a rich smoky taste. The ox cheek was overwhelmingly smoky (sort of tasted as if a bottle of liquid smoke was spilled in it) but softened out with the cheesy cauliflower. The major draw, for me at least, is the epic beer list with around 100 beers both on tap and in bottle form .There are about a dozen or so on tap and some crazy microbrews in bottles - i tried the smoked porter which paired nicely with the food (no surprise there) but I've heard good things about the Flying Dog Raging Bitch. Oh and desserts are spot on with the Friday Pie (a salted caramel chocolate tort) and the Krun Chee Nut being very moreish. The pie was enough for even the more dedicated chocoholic. I'll be heading back soon and I definitely recommend it to all of you!
Google By far one of my top meals in London. We had Lobster Frittata and Crab on Toast to start which were both fantastic and I would highly recommend. The real winners though were the two main courses, Peppered Ox Cheek and the Shortrib Bourguignon. I only managed to steal a taste of the Ox Cheek but what I tasted was absolutely delicious. My Shortrib Bourguignon blew me away and I would go back again and again to order this meal. Full of flavour, the meat fell off the bone so easily and there was just the right amount on the plate. We also got the Friday Pie to share which topped the meal off quite nicely but we couldn't have had one each as it is incredibly rich (and we were stuffed). Staff were very friendly and helpful in choosing what to eat, they were full of knowledge and recommended some very tasty ales to accompany our meal. SO impressed, one of my favourite paces in London.
A homely and countryside-like restaurant famous for its delicious barbecue and craft beer. Located in Angel, it provides for a perfect getaway from the busy London and it satisfies your need for meat!
